What to check before you pay any IT institute
Use this checklist at every institute, including ours.
- Full fee in writing. Ask for the total fee, the instalment plan, what happens if you miss a class or drop out, and any refund policy. A “50% off” banner means little until you see the full price on paper.
- A demo class. Sit in on a real session, not a sales talk. Watch whether students actually build something.
- The trainer’s own work. Ask what the instructor has built or run for real clients: websites, ad campaigns, apps. A good trainer can show you.
- Lab and batch size. Count working computers and students. Ask how many students share one trainer.
- Internship terms. Who gets one (everyone or top performers), how long it lasts, whether it is paid, whether the work is for a real client, and whether you receive an experience letter.
- Certificate terms. When you receive it, and whether employers can verify it online.
- Timing and commute. Check morning, evening or weekend batches, and how long the trip takes at class time.
- Proof from past students. Read Google reviews and ask to speak to a graduate.
What each kind of certificate actually proves
A certificate helps you get a first interview; your portfolio gets you the job or the client. Here is what each common type tells an employer.
| Certificate type | Example | What it proves |
|---|---|---|
| Participation certificate | Careervision’s stated certificate | You attended the course |
| Institute certificate with online verification | IDT’s verification page | You completed it, and anyone can check |
| Government-backed e-certificate | DigiSkills (Virtual University and Ignite) | You passed a nationally run online course |
| National vocational qualification | NAVTTC courses under NVQF | You met a national skills standard |
| University degree | BIIT, affiliated with PMAS Arid Agriculture University | Years of formal study; needed for many government and corporate jobs |
For freelancing on Fiverr or Upwork, clients rarely ask for any certificate. They look at your portfolio and reviews, so choose a course that leaves you with finished projects.
Red flags to walk away from
- A “guaranteed job” promise with no written terms.
- Countdown discounts with no end date or year.
- Internships promised at admission but never described on paper.
- No campus address you can visit before paying.
- No demo class, or pressure to pay the same day.
- No written date for when you receive your certificate.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the best IT institute in Rawalpindi?
The best one is the institute that matches your goal and passes the checklist above. For a free start, check DigiSkills or NAVTTC. For on-campus short courses, compare demo classes at institutes in Satellite Town, Chandni Chowk and nearby Islamabad.
Are there free IT courses in Islamabad and Rawalpindi?
Yes. DigiSkills.pk offers 18 free online courses with a free e-certificate, and NAVTTC runs a free 3-month Digital Marketing and SEO course in Islamabad. Seats are limited, so apply as soon as a batch opens.
Is a 3-month IT course enough to start earning?
It is enough to start if the course is practical and you keep building projects afterwards. Three months gives you the core skills and 2 to 3 portfolio pieces; your first paid work usually comes from that portfolio, not the certificate.
Do IT institutes in Rawalpindi and Islamabad offer internships?
Some do, on different terms. PNY Trainings gives internships to top performers after an assessment, and Programmers Lab lists 2026 internships with an experience certificate. At JTech & PEF Institute, top performers can earn internship letters. Ask who qualifies, whether it is paid, and whether you get an experience letter.
Should I choose an online or a physical IT course?
Choose online if you are disciplined and need flexible hours. Choose on campus if you learn better with a trainer beside you, want feedback on your work every class, and want to meet other students and real clients.
